A dispersal order was authorised for the weekend in parts of Sutton Bridge

Long-term solutions are needed to tackle antisocial behaviour in Lincolnshire, according to a local councillor.

Reform UK's Robbie Woods at Lincolnshire County Council said reports of stones and eggs being thrown at people and properties in Sutton Bridge last week were "completely unacceptable", but stressed that not all young people should be blamed.

Woods said dangerous antisocial behaviour needed to be dealt with, but investment in opportunities for young people was also needed.

Lincolnshire Police said some incidents had "crossed the threshold into criminality" and authorised a dispersal order from Saturday morning until 08:00 BST on Monday.

The dispersal order allows officers to force people to leave specific areas of the town or face arrest and covers the area of Bridge Road, Sutton Bridge and the grounds of Sutton Bridge Memorial Park.

Woods, who represents The Suttons Electoral Divison, said he understood the concerns of residents but warned: "We must be careful not to tarnish all young people with the same brush".

"I think it's important that we recognise the positive things happening in Sutton Bridge alongside the challenges we're facing," he said.

Local resident Christina Leach said she was worried about the reports.

"I think if there was more for the kids to do then it would be okay", she said.

Kevin Botting said the behaviour was 'a sign of the times'

Kevin Botting, who was walking his dog in the park, said: "I don't think it's that bad".

"I just think it's a sign of the times that it happens, but it's not over the top."

Woods said he attended a Sutton Bridge Youth Centre Committee meeting on Friday.

"I believe there's real potential to develop activities, strengthen community engagement and give young people more positive ways to spend their time," he said.

"Ultimately, residents deserve to feel safe in their own community, and young people deserve opportunities to socialise, develop and enjoy themselves responsibly."
