Firefighters tackle blaze at former library

Firefighters continue to tackle a blaze at a former library as police urge residents to keep away from the area.

Cleveland Police said it was called to assist the fire service at Billingham's former library, at the back of Billingham Health Centre, in Queensway, on Tuesday evening.

Photographs of the scene show a building well alight as fire crews work to keep it under control. No further details have been released at this stage.

The force advised residents living nearby to keep doors and windows closed and said road closures were in place at Causeway and Kingsway.
