WATCH: Water bike travels across river to break World Record in China

A motorbike racing across water sounds like something from the movies.
But in real life, one has raced across more than 40.74 km miles of open water to set a new world record.
Zhang Xue, the founder of Chinese motorcycle company ZXMOTO, took on the challenge on the Jinjiang river near his hometown in China on Sunday.
Obviously normal bikes can't ride on water so don't try that at home!
Instead Mr Xue rode a specially designed bike which allowed him to beat the previous record of 31.8 kilometres for the greatest distance travelled over open water by a modified motorcycle.

So, how did the bike stay above the water?
Engineers fitted the bike with water skies, an bigger fuel tank and extra waterproofing to help it float and steer.
Also a specially shaped back tyre pushed water behind the motorcycle, driving it forwards.
This was Zhang Xue's fourth attempt at this challenge - he first tried it in 2009, when he was 22 and fell into the water four times.
This time, his team spent five months testing and improving the bike.
"Everything came together at the right time," he said after completing his record breaking drive.
Officials from Guinness World Records watched the attempt and checked tracking information, timings and video before confirming the record.
