Everton boss David Moyes has said his players did a "brilliant job" inbeating Newcastle to progress in the Carabao Cupon Thursday, and that making the quarter-finals "sounds good".
The Toffees produced an impressive display to dispatch the 2025 winners 3-1 at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Everton, who have never won the League Cup and not won a major trophy since an FA Cup triumph in 1995, will now visitFleetwood Town, who are 18th in League Two, for a place in the last four.
"We're pleased that we've been able to get to this stage of the competition. If we can keep it going great, obviously," said Moyes.
The noise before and after the game has been dominated by the newsJack Grealish was left out over a "breack of club discipline". Moyes refused to give further details, saying only: "It was a club decision. I support the decision. It's something I don't really want to speak too much about."
However, he praised his players for not letting Grealish's exclusion be a distraction and instead producing one of the best performances of the season so far.
"The one thing about Everton and what they've got is really good values behind them," Moyes added.
"All the players stand up to the values and accept the values we put out there [about] what we want from them on the pitch and off the pitch.
"From that point of view, the players have done a brilliant job tonight."
