Torquay United striker Cody Cooke says the club's squad must get used to the expectation for them to win games.

The Gulls are 13th in National League South having had a difficult start to the campaign.

Last season's beaten play-off finalists are four points off the play-off places and 10 behind leaders Truro City, having won just five of their 14 league games this season.

Their3-0 win at struggling Walton and Hersham on Saturdaywas only their second victory in their last seven matches.

The run saw them miss out on a lucrative FA Cup first round trip to Leicester City after being beaten at home by Oxford City in the fourth qualifying round.

"We're a big football club in the National League South, let's not get away from that, everyone knows that when they're signing here and it's difficult to get away from the noise," Cooke, whomoved to Plainmoor in the summer of 2024,told BBC Radio Devon.

"I've been here, it feels like a long time now compared to some of the whole group, and I've been here in the good times and I've seen it at its worst as well.

"The new boys have got to get used to that expectation of needing to win every single week, which we do at this level, and ultimately do our jobs and get three points every week."
