The LAV-25 has served Marines for decades as a fast, mobile reconnaissance vehicle. Now, the ARV-30 is emerging as its next-generation replacement.

The LAV-25 has served the U.S. Marine Corps since the 1980s, combining speed, mobility, reconnaissance and a 25mm cannon in one eight-wheeled armored vehicle. Built to scout ahead of Marine forces and operate across difficult terrain, it remains a recognizable part of Marine reconnaissance. But after decades of service, the LAV family is approaching a major transition, with the newer ARV-30 being developed as its future replacement.
