Bentley’s First EV, the Torcal, Debuts with a 113 kWh Battery

Bentley has revealed the Torcal in London, its first fully electric car and fourth model line, built by hand in Crewe. It pairs a 113 kWh, 800-volt battery with up to 888 PS and a claimed 600 km of WLTP range, at well under half the price of Ferrari’s first EV, the Luce.

For 107 years, every Bentley has had an engine you could hear. Its first fully electric car doesn’t have one, so Bentley brought in to record the Bentley Dynamic Symphonymusicians to record a Dynamic Symphony.

Meet the Torcal, which debuted in London on September 23. It’s a five-metre SUV and Bentley’s fourth model line, built by hand in Crewe.

Under the floor sits a 113 kWh, 800-volt battery. Bentley claims up to 600 kilometres of WLTP range, and says a 400 kW charger adds 100 miles in seven minutes.

Two motors give the Torcal S up to 888 PS and 1,350 newton-metres, making it the most powerful production Bentley ever. Zero to 100 km/h takes 2.9 seconds.

Bentley says it stopped there on purpose, because most of its customers find anything quicker uncomfortable.

Compare that with Ferrari’s first EV, the Luce. It packs a bigger 122 kWh battery and about 1,050 PS, hits 100 in 2.5 seconds, and starts at 550,000 euros.

The Torcal gives up that edge, but Bentley claims more range, and in the UK it starts at about 173,000 pounds, well under half the price.

As for the sound, Bentley recorded drums, viola and bass guitar, built around the rhythm of its V8. It gets louder in Sport mode, and you can switch it off.

Deliveries are expected in 2027, just as rivals like Lamborghini back away from EVs. Bentley is betting its buyers won’t.
