BETA completes Utah trial of transporting time-sensitive movement of critical medical cargo

BETA Technologies has wrapped up five days of flight operations in Utah, flying its all-electric ALIA CTOL between Salt Lake City, Provo and Logan with cargo airline Alpine Air under the FAA and US DOT’s eVTOL Integration Pilot Program.

Some cancer-scan drugs lose half their radioactivity in under two hours.

As Alpine Air’s CEO puts it, you’re on the clock the second they’re produced.

So BETA Technologies just spent five days in Utah testing an all-electric answer.

Flying with Alpine Air, BETA’s ALIA plane linked Salt Lake City, Provo and Logan.

Alpine Air already moves these drugs on conventional planes. Electric ones could add routes to new communities.

The FAA pilot program behind it is tracking flight time, charging, turnaround, weather and cost.

Next, the program expands across Utah, with an eye on rural towns.
