Boston Review hasan issuedevoted to intellectual property, democracy, and the creative commons. The articles are available online, and although I’ve yet to read through all of them they look really good. I’m most of the way through thearticle by David Bollierand it rocks so far.
Another excellent journal issue dealing with intellectual property in terms of its wider societal impact is thelatest issue of Daedalus, the journal of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. I’m about halfway through this one, and it contains a good selection of essays. Actually, some of the essays are a bit weak, but even the weak essays point you to good bibliography if you check out the footnotes. Unfortunately, only a few articles in this issue are available online. To get the rest of them you’ll have to locate a dead tree copy.
And before you ask, no, I haven’t readLessig’s new book. A friend bought it for me, then didn’t give it to me, and then left the country. He’ll be back in town in a year, though, and hopefully by then I’ll be far enough along in my reading list that I can give it a read. But then again, in a year it might be illegal for him to loan it to me, give it to me, or sell it to me.
