A couple of interesting tidbits have crossed my desk today, and while the details are mostly sketchy on them all, I figured I’d throw ’em out to you guys as some Friday afternoon homestretch goodness. First up, a little birdie at Salomon Smith Barney says that Dell islooking at Hammer. Dell hasn’t commented either way, but perhaps we shouldn’t be too surprised if they are in fact looking. After all, Dell isn’t necessary wedded to Intel for life, and if Hammer delivers, Dell doesn’t want to be left out in the cold. Meanwhile, a few sources at Microsoft claim to have seen Hammer boxes at Redmond being rolled out for show-n-tell.

In other CPU news, the race to a 90-nanometer fab is heating up, with Motorola saying that theyexpect to beat Intelby a least 6 months. Motorola looks to be benefiting fromtheir strategic alliancewith Philips and STMicro, while both AMD and Intelquibbleover which of the two of them will score 90nm first. For this race, my money’s on Intel.
