Humanoid every 10 minutes at this UBTech’s new plant

China has taken a major step toward commercial humanoid robot production after UBTECH began operations at its new industrial humanoid robot factory in Liuzhou, Guangxi, on September 12.

One humanoid robot rolls off the line every ten minutes, and some of the workers building it are humanoid robots too.

This is UBTech’s new Super Smart Factory in Liuzhou, southern China, commissioned on 12 September.

UBTECH’s super smart factory covers 14,000 square meters and has a building height of 13.8 meters, around 45 feet. It will primarily manufacture the company’s Walker S Series and Cruzr Series embodied intelligence industrial humanoid robots.

The robots actually on the line are the wheeled ones. Cruzr units doing the depalletising, the loading, the material runs, working next to human operators.

The fiddly work still goes to conventional automation. Collaborative arms on rotating stations drive more than two thousand screws into every robot, across roughly 50 different screw specifications.

Each unit leaves with a serial number logging where its parts came from, how they were fastened, and how it scored in four hours of stress testing.

UBTech built the plant in software first, a digital twin on Siemens Plant Simulation, so the line could be debugged before it existed.

Does the demand justify it? In the first half of this year UBTech sold just over 900 full size humanoids, close to 20 times the year before, and still lost three 339 million yuan.

Its target for 2026 is 10,000. This factory is the bet that it can get there.
