Lumos MOS 2: China’s 350 kg ‘AI Worker’ Clocks Shifts at Mitsubishi Electric

Chinese startup Lumos Robotics has launched MOS 2, a wheeled, dual-arm ‘AI Worker’ built for real factory lines. It lifts up to 50 kg across both arms, runs for more than eight hours on hot-swappable batteries, and is already inspecting and assembling parts on Mitsubishi Electric’s PLC production lines.

This robot weighs up to 350 kilos, and it’s already working real shifts on a factory floor.

Meet MOS 2, the new ‘AI Worker’ from Chinese startup Lumos Robotics.

It stands 1.65 metres tall on a wheeled base of about half a square metre, small enough for tight factory aisles.

And that base moves in any direction, even diagonally.

Up top, two arms with 22 degrees of freedom. They handle 30 kilos in regular use and up to 50 at peak.

A built-in lift lets it work anywhere from floor level up to two metres.

It sees through three cameras and two 3D lidars, feels through force sensors in both wrists, and thinks on an NVIDIA Orin chip.

The batteries last eight-plus hours and are hot-swappable, so charging doesn’t stop the line.

Mitsubishi Electric, its lead investor, already runs it on PLC production lines, handling defect checks, screwdriving and boxes.

The first-generation MOS clocked over 1,000 hours without a single failure there.

Next stop: electronics, auto and chip factories.
