Agility Robotics unveiled Digit 5, a new humanoid designed to safely work alongside people without the physical barriers required by earlier models.

This is Digit 5. Agility Robotics’ newly-unveiled humanoid robot designed to work right next to you.

Revealed in Oregon, this 5 foot 11 and 284 pound robot has been improved in its capabilities compared to the previous model and is intended to be suitable for safe collaboration with humans for the first time.

That pitch rests on three things.

Sensors and onboard AI watching continuously for people. Lights and sounds that signal what the robot is about to do. And an independent safety controller that takes over the moment someone gets too close.

When it spots you, Digit does one of three things. It steers around you, it stops, or it sits down.

That seems to be a real bottleneck in warehouse robotics.

Fencing costs money, eats floor space and pins a machine to one station, which is a big part of why humanoids keep getting stuck in pilots.

The hardware grew as well. It lifts 50 pounds, about 40 percent more than Digit 4, and reaches 7.2 feet, up from five and a half.

Ninety minutes of runtime, nine minutes to charge, turning into more than 20 hours of work in a 24 hour day.

Digit 4 has logged more than 65,000 hours at GXO, Schaeffler, Amazon and Toyota’s plant in Canada, and CEO Peggy Johnson says Digit 5 was built to the exact requirements those customers handed over after three years.

Early access is the first half of 2027, general availability at the end of it. Leasing runs about $8,500 a month. Buying one is roughly $200,000.
