There’s been news bouncing around quite a bit today about unofficial reports of Hammer’s performance-rating and internal clock speeds. First up is an article by tecChannel (auf Deutsch hier, aber in English viathe Fish). The article reports on a presentation that was given over the weekend at a programmer’s conference in Helsinki, Finland. Allegedly, an AMD Field Application Engineer, Joakim Stenberg, said that Hammer would be initially rated at 3400+, with a clockspeed of over 2GHz. The presentation was recorded on video and put up on FTP, but the file has since been pulled. Stills of the presentation are postedhere at Muropaketti.com, a Finish site. Most of the shots show what appears to be a PowerPoint presentation in English covering the basics of Hammer and Hypertransport, and there are no shots which indicate that the PR-rating isreally3400+. For AMD’s sake, let’s hope so.
