This Startup’s ‘Matter Compiler’ Turns Code Into Tiny Machines

A startup spent six years in stealth building a factory that turns code into tiny machines.
It’s Atomic Machines, founded by Jeff Holden, who has worked previously with Amazon and Uber.
The startup just emerged with $250 million raised.
Its system, the Matter Compiler, an AI-native manufacturing system that builds working micro-machines from code alone.
It builds 3D machines with moving parts and multiple materials, with features just a few microns wide.
It measures and corrects every step, and its AI runs experiments to learn from each build.
Its first product is PrimeSwitch, a 150-amp power relay small enough to sit on a fingertip.
The company says it opens in 50 microseconds, about a thousand times faster than a conventional contactor. That speed matters for AI data centres moving to 800-volt power.
The catch? It’s not hands-off yet. Engineers still move parts between its 13 machines and help assemble the final device.
Early customers are testing the switch now. One investor calls it the start of vibe manufacturing.
