The U.S. Marines are testing 12 autonomous Rheinmetall ground vehicles, including amphibious variants, to explore driverless logistics and expeditionary mobility across difficult coastal environments.

The U.S. Marines are testing 12 Rheinmetall Mission Master SP autonomous ground vehicles in a $7.28 million program focused on expeditionary mobility and logistics. Five of the vehicles will receive amphibious kits, allowing the Marines to explore unmanned movement across challenging coastal terrain. The experiment could help reduce the need to expose personnel during routine resupply missions while giving Marine units more flexible options for moving equipment and supplies in contested environments.
