As expected, Windows XP SP1 is out on schedule. Care to be anearly adopter(133MB download)? Actually, the Service Pack has had decent levels of testing, both by intended beta testers and those who are working diligently to overcome the new anti-piracy features of the Service Pack that wereported on earlier. Basically, if you right click on My Computer and choose properties, then see one of these two keys, you’re in trouble: XXXXX-640-0000356-23XXX and XXXXX-640-2001765-23XXX (the Xs are variables, obviously). Of course, people have long beenhard at workdevising ways to circumvent this, but I still think Microsoft is really aiming at the less technical pirates out there, including those people who have been sold duped copies of a corporate version (sucks to be them).
You can also download the update fromWindows Update, which may prove wiser since WU will let you use the Microsoft Download Manager (and considering how popular this file is going to be, you may get disconnected). The Release Notes can be foundhere. Additionally, all of youStyleXPusers out will probably need to grab an update after installing the Service Pack.
