Man arrested on suspicion of rape in York

A man has been arrested on suspicion of raping a woman in York.
Police were called to Walmgate, near the city walls, at about 22:45 BST on Thursday following the incident.
A man in his 40s was arrested at the scene, North Yorkshire Police said, and later released on conditional police bail.
The force said investigations were ongoing, with a woman in her 40s receiving care and support from specialist agencies. Officers asked anyone who was in the area at the time to get in contact.
