Northrop Grumman’s YFQ-48A Talon Blue has completed its first fully autonomous flight, taking off, manoeuvring and landing without remote human intervention as autonomous fighters race toward operational use.

Northrop Grumman’s YFQ-48A Talon Blue has completed its first fully autonomous flight, including taxi, takeoff, in-flight manoeuvres and landing without remote human intervention. The internally funded aircraft is being developed as a Collaborative Combat Aircraft designed to operate alongside crewed fighters such as the F-35 and F-22. Northrop is targeting lower costs, faster production and scalable autonomous airpower as competition intensifies.
