Turkey’s New Fighter Jet Just Broke Into the Supersonic Era At Mach 1.4

Turkey’s Hürjet has flown in its first production configuration. The Mach 1.4 supersonic trainer will replace aging T-38s and has already secured an international customer in Spain.

Turkey’s Hürjet has completed its first flight in the production configuration planned for the Turkish Air Force. Powered by a GE F404 engine, the supersonic trainer can reach Mach 1.4, climb to 45,000 feet and withstand up to +8G. Turkey plans to use Hürjet to replace its aging T-38 Talon fleet. Spain has also selected the aircraft, ordering 30 jets to replace its F-5 trainers.
