Two F-16s just demonstrated shared infrared targeting using Legion and HiveLink. The system combines sensor data between fighters to improve tracking and estimate target range without radar.

Lockheed Martin has tested two F-16s sharing infrared targeting data in flight using Legion infrared search-and-track sensors and L3Harris’ HiveLink. By combining sensor measurements from two aircraft, the system can improve target tracking and help determine range and 3D position without relying on radar. The technology could give fighters a clearer picture of the battlespace, especially in environments where enemy jamming makes radar operations difficult.
